Celebrity photographer Varinder Chawla recently shared insights on how Bollywood stars have dealt with paparazzi to protect their children’s privacy. In an interview with Hindi Rush, Varinder talked about various approaches taken by stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma and Rani Mukerji.
He explained that the paparazzi community recognizes the ethical issues surrounding photographing young children without consent, a sensitivity that heightened after Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s son Taimur‘s pictures went viral.Consequently, many celebrities have requested that photographers respect their children’s privacy.
“Rani Mukerji, for instance, was very firm with us,” he revealed. “She even threatened to sue if we stepped out of line. On the other hand, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli made a polite request regarding their daughter and sent us gift packages to show their appreciation. We understand it’s not right to overstep boundaries, and we try to be respectful.”

Varinder recounted how Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt handled a privacy breach involving their daughter Raha. “After a photo of Raha was taken from the roof of a nearby building, Ranbir and Alia invited over 100 media personnel to their home. They explained the situation, requested our discretion, and promised to share photos themselves when the time was right,” he said. True to their word, Ranbir and Alia posed with Raha at the Kapoor family’s annual Christmas party last year, later allowing her photos to be taken on several occasions.

Rani Mukerji and her husband Aditya Chopra have been particularly adamant about protecting their daughter Adira’s privacy. On Koffee with Karan, Rani shared how she requested photographers not to take Adira’s photos. She mentioned that the paparazzi respected their privacy and don’t click her pictures until Adira goes into the airport. She also humorously added that photographers were initially scared by her stern demeanor.
