<h3>LS Polls: 70,000 Security Personnel Deployed In Punjab For June 1 Elections</h3>
<p>Around 70,000 security personnel, including central forces, have been deployed for the polling in 13 Lok Sabha seats on June 1, according to Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C on Friday.</p>
<p>Additionally, 1.20 lakh polling staff have been assigned to the voting process in the state. Polling for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab is scheduled from 7 am to 6 pm on Saturday.</p>
<p>During a media briefing, the Punjab CEO stated that the total number of voters in the state is 2,14,61,739, which includes 1,12,86,726 male voters, 1,01,74,240 female voters, and 773 transgender voters, PTI reported.</p>
<p>Compared to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there is an increase of approximately seven lakh voters, noted the Punjab CEO, who was accompanied by nodal officer and IPS officer M F Farooqui.</p>
<h3>PM Modi’s Varanasi Among 13 LS Seats Going To Polls In UP On June 1</h3>
<p>Thirteen Lok Sabha seats, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi, will vote on Saturday in the final and seventh phase of the general elections.</p>
<p>Polling in Uttar Pradesh, which elects 80 members to the Lok Sabha, is being conducted in all seven phases.</p>
<p>As per the report of PTI, the by-election for the Duddhi (ST) assembly seat in Sonbhadra district will also take place on Saturday. This seat is contested by six candidates following the disqualification of BJP MLA Ram Dular after his rape conviction.</p>
<p>The parliamentary constituencies where voting will occur include Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon (SC), Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, and Robertsganj (SC), across 11 districts.</p>
<p>In Uttar Pradesh, the main contest is between the BJP-led NDA and the I.N.D.I.A bloc coalition of Samajwadi Party and Congress.</p>
<p>In addition to Prime Minister Modi, who is running for a third term from Varanasi, there are 143 candidates in the race.</p>
