NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police forensic science laboratory team visited chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s house amid alleged assault of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal. The team collected a dump of CCTV footage from cameras at the entry and exit points, transferring the data onto a pen drive, News agency ANI said quoting sources.
This development follows Maliwal’s allegations that the CCTV cameras at the Delhi CM’s residence were being tampered with. The police’s move to secure the footage is seen as a critical step in ensuring the integrity of the investigation.
In a social media X post on Friday evening, Swati Maliwal, the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) said, “I have received information that now these people are tampering with the CCTV of the house.” Maliwal also tagged Delhi Police in her post.
Earlier, a team of Delhi Police, led by Additional DCP Delhi North, Civil Lines Police Station SHO, and a team of forensic officials, arrived at the CM’s residence on Friday evening for scene recreation. Maliwal was also called there as part of the investigation into the alleged assault on her.
The forensic team departed from CM Kejriwal’s residence around 2:15 am on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Bibhav Kumar lodged a written complaint against Swati Maliwal, alleging unauthorized entry, verbal abuse, threats, and hinting at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) possible involvement in the matter. Notably, Kumar’s service as Kejriwal’s personal assistant (PA) was terminated by the Vigilance Department last month due to a pending criminal case.
In his complaint addressed to the SHO of Civil Lines Police Station on Friday, Kumar urged authorities to take decisive legal action against Maliwal. He called for an investigation into her purported connections with BJP leaders, insinuating potential political motives behind the incident, particularly with the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Maliwal has alleged that Kejriwal’s Personal Secretary Bibhav Kumar “slapped” her “atleast seven to eight times” while she “continued screaming” and “brutally dragged” her while “kicking” her in her “chest, stomach and pelvis area.”
