Maoist with 1.1L bounty killed in Bastar | India News – Times of India

RAIPUR: Dudhi Hunga, a hardcore Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs 1.1 lakh on his head, was killed in an encounter in the forests near Banjarapara in the tribal belt of Bastar in Sukma district on Saturday, Chhattisgarh Police said.
Dudhi Hunga, a resident of Arlampalli in Sukma, held the position of militia commander in the Arlampalli RPC under the Konta Area Committee of the outfit.
Police recovered various items including a country-made pistol, a Naxalite backpack, a tiffin bomb, detonators, gelatin rods, a soap bomb, cordex wires, a black uniform, belt, clothes, a trap, Maoist literature, and other daily use items from the site of the encounter.
Police said Hunga had 16 cases against him in different police stations across the district. The district police received intelligence inputs regarding the presence of key Maoist leaders in the Polampalli area, namely, Vetty Mangu, Hitesh, Sodi Gajendra, Sodi Manjula, Durro Kosi, apart from Dudhi Hunga, along with 15-20 Maoist cadre.
A district force team then conducted an anti-Naxalite operation in the villages of Arlampalli, Banjarapara, Palamadgu, Tolnai, and Tetrai on the intervening night of May 17-18. Around 6.30am on Saturday, armed Maoists attacked the police team in the forest close to Banjarapara, police said.
The police team retaliated and exchange of fire continued for nearly 20-25 minutes. Under mounting pressure, the Maoists fled into the jungle, leaving behind the body of a male Maoist, aged around 30-35 years, at the encounter site, police said. tnn
