NEW DELHI: Machhlishahr constituency is a parliamentary constituency located in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. It is composed of several assembly segments and a combination of Jaunpur and Varanasi districts.
Candidates
The primary contenders for the upcoming 2024 elections in Machhlishahr have been announced. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated B.P. Saroj as their representative in the electoral race, and the Samajwadi Party (SP) has chosen Priya Saroj to compete for the coveted seat. Both candidates are gearing up for a fierce battle as they aim to secure the support of the constituents in Machhlishahr.
Lok Sabha 2019 elections
In the 2019 elections for the Machhlishahr parliamentary constituency, the total number of registered voters was 1,848,306. Out of these, 1,034,925 votes were considered valid. The seat was won by Bholanath (B P Saroj), the candidate representing the Bharatiya Janata Party. He secured a total of 488,397 votes. The runner-up was Tribhuvan Ram (T Ram) from the Bahujan Samaj Party, who received a total of 488,216 votes. The margin of victory was extremely narrow, with Bholanath winning by just 181 votes.
Voting date and result
Machhlishahr Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled to vote on May 25, with the Election Commission announcing results on 4th June, as per their statement on March 16.
