The searing hot summer, apathy among party workers, and politicians’ inability to enthuse voters, these are the chief factors being cited for thinning crowds at polling booths during these LS polls. While updated turnout numbers from EC are awaited for the first two phases, an SBI analysis says that in absolute terms, the number of those who have voted this year is higher than in 2019.And, what’s more, it adds there are signs the polling percentage may even go up in the coming phases.
