NEW DELHI: Adilabad Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 17 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies in the state of Telangana. This seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates and comprises the seven Assembly segments namely Sirpur, Adilabad, Nirmal and Mudhole, Asifabad(ST) and Boath(ST) and Khanapur (ST).
Candidates
The Adilabad Lok Sabha seat is gearing up for an intense battle, with Atram Sakku representing the BRS party, Godam Nagesh standing for the BJP, and Atram Suguna representing the Congress. Adilabad constituency has the lowest number of candidates at 12.
Main parties
The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) in 2019 had won 9 of the 17 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won four seats, Congress 3 and Asaduddin Owaisi was the only AIMIM candidate to emerge victorious from his Hyderabad constituency. In the 2023 assembly elections Congress won 64 seats, BRS won 39 seats, BJP 8 and AIMIM got 7 seats. CPI won 1 seat.
Lok Sabha 2019 election result
In the 2019 elections, the Adilabad parliamentary constituency witnessed a significant turnout of eligible voters, totaling 1,489,790. Soyam Bapu Rao from the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the victor, garnering 377,374 votes. Meanwhile, Godam Nagesh, the candidate from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, secured second place with 318,814 votes, trailing by a margin of 58,560 votes.
Voting date and result
The 17 constituencies in Telangana are scheduled to go to poll on May 13 in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 with over 3.17 crore voters eligible to cast their votes.
