US Presidential Elections 2024: Former US president Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the 2024 presidential race, has vowed to conduct the largest deportation operation in American history if he is re-elected. Addressing a convention in Michigan, Trump urged supporters to vote in the November election for a president who will expel “radical Islamic terrorists” from the country.
“The choice for every voter this November is clear,” Trump declared. “You can have a president who lets thousands of radical Islamic terrorists into our country, or you can have a president who throws radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country and gets them out fast. On day one of my new administration, we will begin the largest deportation operation in American history. We have no choice. This is not sustainable.”

US Presidential Elections 2024: Trump Accuses Immigrants Of Stealing Jobs And Government Resources
According to news agency AP, Trump blamed immigrants for stealing jobs and government resources, while appealing to both Black voters and hardcore conservatives in battleground Michigan on Saturday. His fiery remarks on illegal immigration, a long-standing component of his rhetoric, were a central theme as he sought to build support at a Black church and a group known to attract white supremacists.
“The people coming across the border — all those millions of people — they’re inflicting tremendous harm to our Black population and to our Hispanic population,” Trump remarked amid a cheering crowd of thousands of conservative activists, as quoted by AP. “They’re not human beings. They’re animals,” he later added, referring to members of violent immigrant gangs.

Trump’s weekend campaign in Michigan attempts to prevent Democratic President Joe Biden from securing a second term. Michigan, which Biden won by less than 3 percentage points in the previous election, is crucial for both parties. African Americans, a key demographic for Democrats, formed the backbone of Biden’s political base in 2020. However, with less than five months until Election Day, some Black voters are showing signs of dissatisfaction with the 81-year-old Democrat.
Trump, who recently turned 78, is striving to capitalise on a potential shift, AP reported.
