New Delhi: The Lok Sabha election 2024 in Kerala was held in second phase on 26 April 2024 to elect 20 members of 18th Lok Sabha.
By nominating heavyweight candidate KC Venugopal, serving as the AICC General Secretary, the Congress has reaffirmed its influence in the region.
Kerala, with its 20 constituencies, ranks 12th in terms of Lok Sabha seats, making it a significant battleground for political parties. Thiruvananthapuram, a high-profile seat where the battle between the Congress and the BJP is intense, reflecting the state’s political divide.
An exit poll conducted by VMR-Manorama News has delivered a bittersweet forecast for the Congress, indicating a significant decline in Rahul Gandhi’s vote share in the recently concluded election in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency.
Despite this, the exit poll predicts a clean sweep by the United Democratic Front (UDF), which is allied with the Congress, in the Lok Sabha election in Kerala.
The exit poll has forecast that the United Democratic Front (UDF) will secure 16 seats, while the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will win 2 seats, with a neck-and-neck race in the remaining 2 constituencies.
It also predicts a significant drop in Rahul Gandhi’s vote share in Wayanad, from 64% in 2019 to 50% this time. Interestingly, the poll suggests that the BJP will once again fail to secure any seats in Kerala.
