Ranchi DJ Shot Dead Point Blank By Man Who Was Refused Alcohol At Bar

A DJ (disc jockey) in Ranchi, Jharkhand, was shot dead on Sunday night, allegedly by a patron who was refused more alcohol at a bar. CCTV footage from the bar shows the shooter entering the bar wearing nothing but shorts — his t-shirt around his face — carrying a rifle. When he saw the DJ, the video shows, he shot him at point-blank range. A signboard in the background reads ‘Xtreme Sports Bar’.

According to an NDTV report, the police said the shooter and four other people had arrived at the bar around 1 am, when it had already closed, and asked the staff to serve them alcohol.
Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Sinha said, after the men were refused alcohol, a heated argument began between the group and bar staff. During the argument, one brought a rifle and shot the DJ in his chest.
While the accused fled, the injured DJ was rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), where he was declared dead.

On Monday morning, the Ranchi Deputy Superintendent of Police and the local police station in-charge visited the crime scene. They examined the CCTV footage and the employees were also questioned.
A report in The Indian Express quoted Sinha as saying that, according to the employees, the men in question were misbehaving. The police have detained a few individuals and are questioning them, with effortts underway to identify the shooter and arrest him soon. The police also said they would ascertain the details of the weapon after making the arrest, as per the report.
