Opposition INDIA bloc takes a dig at PM Modi’s roadshow in Patna, terms it as ‘futile exercise’

Polling was held in a total of 14 LS constituencies in the first three phases held in southern and eastern pockets of Bihar while another five constituencies go to polls in the fourth phase on Monday.
Questioning the PM’s move to hold a roadshow in the state capital, Lalu Yadav alleged the BJP paid no attention to Bihar even after winning 39 out of the state’s 40 LS seats; instead, all investments went to Gujarat. “The people of Bihar are not fools. They know very well that even after taking 39 MPs out of 40, they developed Gujarat instead of Bihar. All the investments were taken to Gujarat despite Bihar having been with NDA for a long time,” Lalu said, reacting to Modi’s roadshow.
“What purpose PM Modi will serve by holding roadshows in Patna when he can’t reopen a single sugar mill in the state and fulfil even his single pre-poll commitments such as granting special category status to Bihar?” Lalu asked adding the three phases of polling have brought him to the streets and “the remaining four phases will make him roam in the lanes”.
Slamming the roadshow, Bihar opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said the PM has nothing to offer for Bihar.
“Ayenge, Hindu-Muslim karenge, Lalu-Tejashwi ko gali denge aur chal denge
(The PM will come, make communal comments, target us and will go away),” Tejashwi said adding the issue of employment had forced the PM to make roadshows in Patna.
“But whether he makes roadshows or airshow, nothing is going to help him,” he declared, adding the PM visited Bihar some 8-9 times in the past but never explained what’s their vision for the state and what has the NDA govt done for the state in the past 10 years.
Congress leader Prem Chandra Mishra said every leader holds the right to carry out party programmes, but the million-dollar question is why the PM is compelled to hold a roadshow in Patna which is considered the BJP’s stronghold.
“Patna has been their stronghold; their leaders have been constantly winning the Lok Sabha and assembly elections from here. Why does he hold a roadshow here then?” AICC national media panelist Mishra asked.
The CPI-ML which is also a part of the INDIA block alleged the BJP tried to infuse “artificial enthusiasm” among its cadres by arranging crowds from outside but that failed too. “The end of the Modi govt is certain as the people of the country and Bihar have made up their mind to oust the anti-people, dictatorial govt from power,” CPI-ML general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said.
Bhattacharya alleged the urban poor were continuously harassed for the last one week in the name of roadshow. “Their livelihood was lost to this event management. BJP does not care at all about this,” he said.
