NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath slammed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal over his comments on Prime Minister Modi‘s potential retirement at the age of 75 and said aware of their impending defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, opposition is resorting to desperate and futile attempts to attack the Prime Minister based on his age.
The UP chief minister emphasized that the people of India recognize Prime Minister Modi’s dedication to elevating the nation to its ultimate glory.
In his post on X, CM Yogi said, “The entire propaganda of the opposition has failed in the face of the immense public support that the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji is receiving from East to West and North to South. Knowing that its defeat in the Lok Sabha elections is certain, the desperate opposition is making futile attempts to launch attack by using the excuse of Modi ji’s age.”
Previously, Arvind Kejriwal had claimed that PM Modi is paving the way for Home Minister Amit Shah to take over, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would be sidelined after the general elections.
Kejriwal pointed out the BJP’s rule of retiring leaders after the age of 75, citing examples such as LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, and Yashwant Sinha. He suggested that if the BJP forms the government, they will first remove Yogi Adityanath and then appoint Amit Shah as the Prime Minister.
Kejriwal questioned whether Amit Shah would fulfill Modi’s guarantee, implying that PM Modi is seeking votes for Amit Shah’s benefit.
