NEW DELHI: The external affairs ministry on Thursday said the Justin Trudeau-led Canada government gave no formal communication regarding the arrest of three Indian nationals in connection with the death of designated terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
“Canada has informed us about the arrest. But we have not got any formal communication … No specific or relevant evidence or information has been given to us in this matter,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, adding that the Nijjar killing matter “is being prejudged and there is political interest at work”.
“Discussions are happening between India and Canada. We have been telling them that you are giving political space to separatists, extremists and people who advocate violence. We have asked them to extradite several people. We have also conveyed our concerns regarding our diplomats being threatened and not being allowed to carry out their functions,” he added.
