PM Narendra Modi Oath Ceremony Live Updates: Hello and welcome to NDA 3.0 Oath Ceremony Live blog. Stay tuned for all breaking news and latest updates on the swearing-in ceremony. Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is set to take oath on Sunday for a historic third consecutive term, matching the record of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Modi 3.0 Oath Ceremony follows a series of intense consultations involving senior BJP leaders and allies regarding the distribution of ministerial positions in the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, along with BJP president J P Nadda, have been in discussions with key allies such as Telugu Desam Party’s N Chandrababu Naidu, JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar, and Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde. These talks aim to finalise the allocation of Cabinet positions among the NDA constituents. According to news agency PTI, sources indicate that the BJP will retain heavyweight portfolios like home, finance, defence, and external affairs, as well as education and culture, which have significant ideological importance. Allies are expected to receive between five and eight Cabinet berths.

While Shah and Singh are expected to be included in the new Cabinet, other strong contenders include former chief ministers who have secured Lok Sabha seats, such as Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Basavaraj Bommai, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Sarbananda Sonowal. Among the allies, TDP’s Ram Mohan Naidu, JD(U)’s Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, and Ram Nath Thakur, and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan are likely candidates for ministerial positions. Sources suggest that either Singh or Jha will represent the JD(U) in the Cabinet.

Impending changes within the BJP’s organisational structure are also under consideration. Nadda’s term as party president was extended due to the Lok Sabha elections, and there is speculation that he might join the government, potentially bringing a seasoned leader into the party organisation to address internal challenges. The BJP aims to project continuity and counter any perception of political instability after its unexpected underperformance in the recent Lok Sabha polls, where its seat count fell from 303 to 240, significantly below the majority mark of 272.

The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by leaders from several neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and Mauritius, as announced by the government on Saturday.
