MEERUT: Police arrested two men on Thursday for allegedly killing their lover and friend when they resisted the accused’s attempt to get married to a woman.
The bodies of Monty Singh (20) and Manoj Kumar (18), residents of Meerut, were found in a mango orchard in Panchi village under Kharkhoda’s jurisdiction on Wednesday evening, the police said.
SSP Meerut, Rohit Singh Sajwan, told TOI, “Police managed to identify the deceased with the help of a phone found near the bodies.An FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) was lodged against the deceased lover and friend, Ankush (30), and Naveen (24), following a complaint filed by family members.”
“Questioning of the accused revealed that the deceased used to work at Jagaran. They met the accused there and exchanged numbers. One of the accused, Ankush, was planning to get married, but Monty, his lover, resisted and suggested Ankush marry him instead. Monty also threatened to publicise some obscene videos of the couple, sparking resentment between them,” he added.
SSP said, “Irked by the chaos, Ankush and Naveen hatched a plan to eliminate Monty and Manoj. Autopsy reports confirmed strangulation as cause of death. Further investigation is ongoing.”
