Italian PM Giorgia Meloni congratulates PM Modi for victory in Lok Sabha elections | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his third consecutive electoral triumph in the Lok Sabha elections. In her message, she expressed confidence that the two leaders will collaborate to fortify the bond of friendship between Italy and India.
PM Meloni said that both countries will work together on various issues that unite them, focusing on the well-being of their respective nations and citizens.Conveying her wishes for PM Modi‘s successful tenure in a post on X, she said, “Congratulations to @narendramodi on the new electoral victory and my warmest wishes for good work. Certain that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us, for the well-being of our Nations and our peoples,”
Earlier, several other global leaders, including Nepal PM Pranchanda, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, also congratulated PM Modi and the BJP-led NDA government on their resounding victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP-led NDA is set to form its third consecutive government at the Centre, with the Lok Sabha election results revealing a tighter contest than predicted by exit polls. The NDA secured 292 seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc put up a strong performance, winning 240 seats. Other parties are expected to win 18 seats.

In his remarks following the announcement of most of the results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the BJP-led NDA’s victory is a triumph of the resolve of Viksit Bharat, the principle of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas,’ and the strong faith of the people in India’s Constitution.
He highlighted that this is the first time since 1962 that a government that completed two full terms has been elected for a third consecutive term, marking a new chapter in India’s political history after six decades.
