Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut was slapped by a CISF guard at Chandigarh airport. This happened when she was traveling to New Delhi after winning the Lok Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency. The CISF constable involved has been suspended. Many celebrities, including Gul Panag, have criticized the incident.
Using her X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, actress Gul Panag wrote a strongly-worded post, condemning those who are making fun of Kangana. She expressed her thoughts, saying,“We cannot justify someone in uniform making a political statement on duty — whatever the provocation. This is a slippery slope, and what the meme makers, stand-up comics, artistes and others fail to realise is that they could also be on the receiving end of violence one day” @Sherbir.”

Recently, journalist Faye D’Souza wrote a post criticizing the incident, and Alia Bhatt liked it. The post said, “With reference to the incident of MP Kangana Ranaut being slapped at an airport, violence can never be the answer. Especially not in our country that was born out of Gandhi’s ideals of non- violence. It doesn’t matter how much we disagree with views and statements made by someone, we cannot react with violence and we should not condone it. It is particularly dangerous when security personnel react violently while in uniform. Imagine, over the last ten years, if those of us who questioned power were assaulted at airports by constables who were in agreement with that power.”
Before, Kangana criticized the film industry for “celebrating” the attack and not standing by her. She shared her thoughts on Instagram Stories, saying,“All eyes on Rafah Gang this can happen to you or your children as well. When you celebrate a terror attack on someone be ready for the day it comes back to you as well.”
In another post that she removed shortly after, she had written, “Dear film industry you all are either celebrating or are totally mum on the airport attack on me remember if tomorrow if you walking disarmingly on some street of your country or anywhere else in the world and some Israeli / Palestinian hits you or your children just because you tried to bring eyes to Rafah or stood up for Israeli hostage… then you will see I will be fighting for your rights of free speech, if someday you wonder why I am where I am remember you are not me…”
