‘Facing crisis amid inflation’: Sonia Gandhi’s video message to women voters

NEW DELHI: Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday made an appeal to the women voters across the country, reaffirming her party’s commitment to provide an annual sum of Rs 1 lakh to a woman from poor families if voted to power.
In a video message, Sonia noted the significant role played by women in the struggle for Independence and the development of modern India.She highlighted the challenges faced by women in the current economic climate, characterized by high inflation rates.
“Today our women are facing crisis amid severe inflation. To do justice to their hard work and penance, Congress has come up with a revolutionary step. Under the Congress’ ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, we will give Rs 1 lakh every year to a woman from a poor family,” she said.
Sonia Gandhi emphasized the positive impact of Congress’ initiatives on the lives of millions of people in Karnataka and Telangana. She cited examples such as MNREGA, Right to Information, Right to Education, and food security as evidence of the party’s commitment to empowering Indians through their programs.
“Our guarantees have already transformed the lives of crores of families in Karnataka and Telangana. Be it MNREGA, Right to Information, Right to Education or food security. Congress party has given strength to millions of Indians through our schemes,” she added.
Gandhi reassured the public that the Congress party stands with them and pledged to improve their circumstances in “this difficult time”.
As the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections unfolds, voting is currently underway in 96 constituencies across 10 states and Union Territories. Simultaneously, voting is also taking place in all 175 assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and 28 legislative assembly seats in Odisha.
