Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to depart for New Delhi on Tuesday to discuss candidate nominations for the biennial election to 11 Legislative Council seats, to be elected by Members of the Legislative Assembly on June 13, with the Congress high command.

Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D K Shivakumar is expected to join him for these discussions, PTI reported.

According to Siddaramaiah’s travel itinerary shared with the media, he will leave for New Delhi on a special flight at around 11 am on Tuesday. Upon arriving in the afternoon, he will meet with AICC members.

Given the current party strengths in the Assembly, Congress can secure seven seats, BJP three, and JD(S) one.

The nomination filing process has already begun and will continue until June 3.
