Kuwait Fire Accident Kerala Govt Convenes Emergency Cabinet Meeting As Multiple Migrants From State Killed

In response to the recent Kuwait fire accident, the Kerala government has convened an emergency Cabinet meeting to address the urgent situation. The meeting commenced at 10 AM this morning, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.
The primary agenda for the emergency meeting includes the repatriation of the bodies of those affected in the mishap and the consideration of dispatching ministers to Kuwait to coordinate relief efforts on the ground.
After the emergency meeting, Kerala government announced Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to families of Keralites who died in Kuwait fire accident. They also informed that Kerala Health Minister Veena George would leave for Kuwait to coordinate treatment of injured and return of bodies of deceased.

At least 11 people from Kerala lost their lives in a massive fire that broke out in a residential building in Kuwait. In total, 49 people died as the blaze originated on the lower floor of the apartment complex spread rapidly throughout the building in the Mangaf area of Kuwait’s southern Ahmadi Governorate.
Apart from the 11 victims from Kerala, a few others have been identified from Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, reacting to the mishap, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, “Deeply saddened by the tragic fire accident at the flat complex in Mangaf, Kuwait, claiming over 40 lives and injuring many. Reports indicate that several Keralites are among the victims. Wrote to the Hon’ble External Affairs Minister, @DrSJaishankar , requesting to ensure necessary arrangements to coordinate rescue operations. Sharing the grief of the families and friends of the deceased and wishing speedy recovery to the injured.”
