KULLU: A 57-year-old tourist from Maharashtra‘s Thane fell to his death while paragliding in Raison village in Himachal Pradesh‘s Kullu district on Thursday.
Gautam – part of a tourist group on a paragliding expedition – and his pilot fell down during takeoff. They were rushed to Kullu civil hospital, where Gautam was declared dead, police said. The pilot is out of danger.
District administration is probing the accident and whether the pilot had a valid licence.Earlier in Feb, a 26-year-old woman from Telangana died after falling on a house after her paragliding harness broke mid-air in Dobhi village near Manali, prompting the administration to halt the sports.
On Dec 24, 2022, a 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died under similar circumstances in Dobhi. Before that, a 20-year-old tourist and his pilot died in a paragliding crash in Dobhi.
