China encroached on our land but PM Modi is silent: Congress president Kharge | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of silence over alleged Chinese encroachment on Indian territory.
Addressing a rally in Himachal Pradesh‘s Rohru, Kharge questioned the Prime Minister’s famed “56-inch chest,” suggesting that it seemed conspicuously absent amid China’s reported construction activities on Indian land.
“We fought against Pakistan and secured independence for Bangladesh. Yet, China is encroaching on our land, constructing houses and roads, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi remains silent. Where is the 56-inch chest?” Kharge rhetorically asked, taking a swipe at Modi’s perceived strongman image.
In addition to criticizing PM Modi‘s response to the purported Chinese incursions, Kharge lambasted the Centre for its alleged negligence in providing aid to Himachal Pradesh following the devastating floods of 2023. According to Kharge, the Himachal Pradesh CM’s plea for Rs 10,000 crore in aid resulted in negligible assistance, symbolized by mere stones.
Kharge asserted that the Congress party stands as a guardian of the nation and its Constitution, pledging to address critical issues such as government job vacancies. He promised to fill 30 lakh government positions if the Congress is elected to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
