As the credits rolled, director Jacques Audiard expressed his gratitude, sparking another wave of applause that extended the ovation by an additional two minutes.

The Spanish-language musical crime comedy features a star-studded cast including Zoe Saldana, Karla Sofia Gascon, and Edgar Ramirez. The film won over the audience at the Palais des Festivals, earning praise for its unique storyline and powerful performances.

Speaking to Reuters on Sunday, Gomez shared her feelings about the shift in focus to her professional work. “It’s a relief. I’d rather somebody say I did a terrible job than talk about my personal life. So, I feel very proud,” she said, reflecting on the positive reception of her role in ‘Emilia Perez’.
The movie has emerged as a standout entry this year. The film tells the story of a Mexican drug lord who transitions from male to female and starts a nonprofit dedicated to finding the bodies of disappeared people. This compelling narrative has placed the film in contention for the festival’s top prize, the Palme d’Or.
