NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray factions of NCP and Shiv Sena and claimed that “duplicate NCP and Shiv Sena” have made up their minds to merge with the Congress after the June 4 Lok Sabha election results.
Addressing an election rally in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, PM Modi took a veiled swipe at veteran NCP leader Sharad Pawar and said, “A big leader here who has been active for 40-50 years is worried after polling in Baramati. He says that after June 4, smaller parties, to survive, will merge with the Congress.”
“This means the nakli (fake) NCP and nakli Shiv Sena have made up their minds to merge with the Congress,” he added.
During his address, PM Modi also advised the estranged party factions to join Ajit Pawar‘s and Eknath Shinde‘s faction of NCP and Shiv Sena.
“…Instead of dying by merging with the Congress, come to Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde,” he said.
The NCP split in July last year after Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government against the wishes of party founder Sharad Pawar. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena was divided into two factions after Uddhav Thackrey failed to prove majority in the state assembly in 2022.
In an apparent reference to Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s alleged comment about “burying him in Maharashtra just like Mughal emperor Aurangzeb”, PM Modi said that those from the duplicate Sena are speaking of burying him alive.
“The nakli Shiv Sena wants to bury me alive. They abuse me in such a way that it will be liked by their favourite vote bank,” he said.
“As long as Modi is alive, I will not let reservations of Dalits, Adivasis, OBCs be given to Muslims based on religion,” he added.
Speaking at the rally, PM Modi also accused the Congress of conspiring to end “Hindu faith”. “The guru [Sam Pitroda] of Congress’s ‘shehzada’ [Rahul Gandhi] has told the US that Ram temple and Ram Navmi festivities are against the idea of India,” he said.
“See the mindset of Congress. In the country of Ram, they are calling the Ram temple, anti-national. Those people who organize ‘sarkari iftari’, and beautify the graves of terrorists for appeasement are calling our lord Ram, his temple, and us, who go to Ram temple, as anti-national,” he added.
