NEW DELHI: Every morning, office workers wake up, iron their formal clothes, and dress up to look presentable but now no more on Monday. India’s premier research organisation, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) asked its staff to wear wrinkled clothes on Monday as a part of its initiative ‘Wrinkles Acche Hai.’
The idea behind the non-ironed clothes to work every Monday is a symbolic fight against climate change.

The new campaign was launched as part of the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada‘ from May 1-15.
Appreciating this ‘Wrinkles acche hai’ initiative, Energy Swaraj Foundation, in a post on X, said, “We are grateful for @CSIR_IND coming forward and actively participating in our #climatecorrection campaign: #WrinklesAchheHain every Monday!”

In pursuit of its broader energy conservation goals, CSIR is instituting a series of standard operating procedures aimed at diminishing electricity usage in laboratories nationwide. The initial objective is to achieve a 10% reduction in workplace electricity expenses. These SOPs will undergo a pilot trial from June to August 2024.
CSIR, distinguished for its groundbreaking research and development spanning a wide array of scientific and technological fields, stands as India’s premier research and development institution.
With an extensive network comprising 37 national laboratories, it provides support to 3521 active scientists along with 4162 technical and support staff. CSIR’s research spectrum encompasses disciplines ranging from oceanography, geophysics, and pharmaceuticals to genomics, biotechnology, and nanotechnology. Its diverse portfolio extends to sectors such as mining, aeronautics, environmental engineering, and information technology.
