NEW DELHI: Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren on Monday moved SC against the rejection of his bail plea by Jharkhand high court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam seeking urgent listing of the matter.
The bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra asked senior advocate Kapil Sibal, who is appearing for Soren, to write an email regarding the request and said that the bench would look into it.
The Jharkhand high court had, on Friday, dismissed Soren’s writ petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and denied bail to him. However, it allowed him to attend his uncle’s last rites on May 6 under police custody.
Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in connection with a money laundering case involving an alleged land fraud. He is currently in judicial custody at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi.
Soren was sent to the Birsa Munda Central Jail on February 15 following his 13-day detention by the ED.
