Thane: The Thane Police have booked two persons selected for constable posts during the 2022 police recruitment drive for submitting forged Project Affected Persons (PAP) certificates to avail themselves of reservation benefits.
This incident has once again showcased the malpractices used by candidates in the recruitment process.
The accused, Om Nagde and Alam Shaikh, are both residents of Beed district, and two separate cases have been registered against them at the Thane police station, the police said. The recruitment process was conducted for 521 constable posts, with 27 seats reserved for project-affected persons.
As many as 39,338 applications were received from across the state for these 521 positions, including 1,384 applications under the project-affected reservation category. “After physical tests and written exams in 2023, the final selection list of candidates was published. However, during this period, the Director General of Police ordered verification of certificates for selected project-affected and earthquake-affected candidates.
Among the 27 selected candidates under the project-affected category, it was discovered that 13 candidates possessed certificates from Beed district,” said the police officer. “It was revealed that no certificates had been issued to the duo, nor are they project-affected persons, indicating the certificates were forged.
