NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi for his allegations regarding how the BJP will change the Constitution if voted to power. The Prime Minister accused the Congress leader of hypocrisy in respecting the Constitution and pointed to the 2013 incident when Rahul Gandhi tore an ordinance mooted by the Manmohan Singh government to shield convicted lawmakers from immediate disqualification.
Addressing back to back rallies in different districts of Odisha, PM Modi said “Shehzada (Rahul Gandhi) who is dancing nowadays keeping the Constitution on his forehead… When the Manmohan Singh’s Cabinet took a decision, the “Shehzada’ called a press conference and tore apart that ordinance into pieces. Those pieces were not of paper but of the Constitution…”
PM Modi also hit out on Congress over “Gangajal purification” remark after President Murmu visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
“Our president Droupadi Murmu visited Ram temple in Ayodhya a few days back, offered prayers and sought blessings from Ramlalla for the welfare of the country… One day after her visit, one of the biggest leaders of the Congress party said we will do purification of Ram temple with Gangajal…Do such people have the right to be in Indian politics,?” he said.
“Naveen Patnaik has outsourced Odisha government. The state is run by outsiders”
Modi also targeted Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik, and said that the state government is controlled by individuals from outside.
“Naveen Patnaik has outsourced Odisha government. The state is run by outsiders.,” Modi said.
PM Modi also repeated his comments about the end of the Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha and welcomed people to join the inauguration of the state’s inaugural BJP chief minister on June 10.
“I have already announced the expiry date of BJD to be on June 4. I want to invite all of you to come to Bhubaneswar on June 10. Because there’s oath taking ceremony of BJP’s Chief Minister on that date,” said Modi.
The prime minister mentioned that the BJD government, even though they have been in power in Odisha for the past 25 years, has not been able to improve the state’s economic condition.
“In 25 years, one entire generation grows up and starts off their new lives. However, the BJD party has been unsuccessful in uplifting Odisha from poverty over the course of 25 years. There’s anger against BJD leaders among people in Odisha,” Modi said.
‘Where are the keys of Shri Ratna Bhandar missing?’
Prime Minister Modi also brought up the matter of the lost keys of Shri Ratna Bhandar at Shri Jagannath Temple. Modi mentioned that he had raised a delicate matter concerning the management of the temple to the nation and Odisha.
He also added that the keys to Shri Ratna Bhandar at Jagannath Ji Temple have been missing for the past 7 years.
“7 decades ago, rules were established for the management of the Shri Jagannath Temple. Among these rules was the maintenance of records for all temple assets, including gold, silver, and precious stones. The last evaluation of the treasure in Shri Ratna Bhandar took place 45 years ago, revealing an abundance of jewellery and gems deemed priceless. Surprisingly, the inner chamber keys of Shri Ratna Bhandar have been missing for the past 6 years. The state government claims to have found duplicate keys, but how and by whom they were made remains unknown. Despite handing over the investigation to a commission, the Odisha government has not made the report public. The BJP is committed to addressing this issue, and we ask, why is the BJD government avoiding it?”
“What compels the state government to hide the truth? Who are they trying to protect? Today, I promise the people of Odisha and the nation that under the BJP government, transparency and the reputation of Shri Ratna Bhandar will be restored. This is Modi Ki Guarantee,” the PM added.
