KOCHI: An 18-year-old Pocso case survivor was found dead in her home at Kattappana in Idukki on Tuesday morning. Police said the woman’s body was found on her bed with an elastic belt around her neck.
There were no signs of a struggle in the room, and it was unlikely that someone from outside entered the house, police said.
Police are investigating all angles, including suicide, in the case.Alibis of possible suspects are being verified.
The teenager was the survivor in a Pocso case registered nearly two years ago, in which the trial is progressing.
“We have recovered some voice notes and messages from the victim’s phone suggesting suicide. The belt found around her neck had some elasticity and it is a possibility that she wound it around her neck on her own. However, we are awaiting an autopsy report to confirm this possibility,” said a senior officer with Kattappana police.
